A SPANISH  CONGREGATION CONTINUES TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THEIR WORLD AROUND THEM

The congregation of Iglesia Alianza Christiana y Misionera took to the highways and hedges compelling their world around them to come.

With flowers in hand they went to the local Spanish market and into their neighborhood to wish  mom’s a Happy Mother’s Day.   Pastor Jose’ Duque led the event handing out 300 flowers to unsuspecting mothers the Saturday before their special day.
Jose’ and his congregation said they had a blast putting so many smiles on the faces of the mom’s they encountered.
In just a few hours on a Saturday they were able to brighten the day of so many by  loving on the community around them.

This congregation started on Easter with an egg hunt for the children of their community and had such a great time they decided to continue to take advantage of the many opportunities around them. The TAP Team counts it a privilege to partner with this community committed to live by faith, be known by love, and to be a voice of hope!

TAP Easter Outreach w/ Spanish District

The Tampa Alliance Project & the SED sponsored the Easter outreach with the CMA Spanish District. It was an amazing day!

SED Multiplication Associate Tracy Larsen gave this report . . .

Remember the old song “It only takes a spark to get a fire going”?  How true that is. The Saturday before Easter a small Spanish congregation put on an Easter Egg Hunt for their community.

The result was a huge extension of the love of God to those who came.

It started with the cry in a Pastor’s heart for his congregation to reach out to their community… “the spark”.

To think that an Egg Hunt could do so much for so many. The day was filled with warm conversation, laughter, and a genuine love for each one that came. From the Egg Hunt, to face

painting, prizes and games the day was a hit. In difficult economic times generosity and love pay huge dividends.

I think the highlight of the day was the relationship building. People getting to know each other, building bridges into each other’s lives. (Although the Easter Bunny being there was a close second) I think often we fail to realize that we all are people looking for God and meaningful connections to each other.

There was the mom with 4 kids who came. They enjoyed the Egg hunt, games, and prizes, but when they had their picture taken with the Easter Bunny the little girl asked if she could get a second photo to send to her daddy in prison.  And then there was the single mom, all alone with her and her little daughter wondering if she could find somewhere to belong in a new city.

Everyone who came could sense the genuine love of God for them and walked away warmed by it… “the fire”

It only takes a spark to get a fire going,
And soon all those around can warm up in its glowing;
That’s how it is with God’s Love,
Once you’ve experienced it,
You spread the love to everyone
You want to pass it on.

This past weekend the Outback Steakhouse PRO-AM took place in Tampa!  Players from the Champions Tour [Senior Golf Pros] joined celebrities from both the Tampa Bay region and from around the world.  A number of local charities were represented and some of the TAP team joined in the event.  Gabriel Isaiah Caterson had the opportunity to live out his faith and interact with some celebs [Gabe & George Lopez photo opp below]. It is amazing how simple it is to partner with community groups trying to impact a city.  Next year we hope to become official volunteers. . .
